What an incredible day. Two trips to the orthodontist (for two different children), one trip to Milford (hit a green light EVERY single time from Marsh to the Milford school,) one trip to Syracuse for the fashion show of the decade. OK....maybe it wasn't the fashion show of the decade, but it was pretty awesome. All the proceeds are going to Destiny Rescue.
Emma decided (she was asked) to be in the fashion show at the high school. This show consisted of designing outfits from clothing purchased at GoodWill stores. (This is NOT a problem) She actually had a hard time doing ONLY 6. Seriously? Six? Long story....short. Emma's first outfit was an orange jumpsuit. This thing looked like something from the county jail. It is bright orange. Crazy thing is, this isn't the craziest thing she has worn today. I had to take her to the orthodontist in a black tutu, lime green tights and a tiara. It matches her pink hair. She decided not to wear Doc Martens because....they are brown. Brown was NOT her neutral color of choice today. (How could I be so stupid?) March Emma March!!! :)
Cameron was stoic and went to scouts and missed the festivities but is stoked about the pinewood derby for this Saturday. I love to watch him. He's such a gentleman. He's a gracious loser and a gracious winner. It makes me so proud. THIS is what becoming a man is all about. Not 'winning' at everything. Not 'getting' everything. It's about doing your best and being gracious whatever the outcome may be.
Now....Maximus. This boy has had a day like you wouldn't believe. He played the Wii. He watched a little bit of Power Rangers. Went to the fashion show. He liked the fashion show. He loved cheering on Ray and his big sister. However the highlight of this boy's evening was a little Party Rock Anthem and him being whisked to the stage to show his stuff. He gave it 110%. From beginning to end....he was shuffling. Having 'big kids' cheer you on feels pretty awesome when you're 5. So....to those of you in the auditorium "thank you".
Janie, I just love everything you've written so far! I love the fact that you're tattooed and in love with God. While I'm not as tattooed as you are, I work an office job with an arm full of ink and yes, I get "the look" more often than not and I think that the thoughts running through their heads are, "she doesn't believe in God...just look at her!" My ink is a form of self expression and I have children who know and love God as well. Having tattoos doesn't change the way I love, nor does it change the fact that I'm a Christian. Thank you for being you from the inside out <3
