Well, here it is, the last day of April and I'm feeling a little spring in my step. I was up at 5am to welcome Mikey to the couch. I went back to bed and listened to my husband breathe through his nose with a slight whistle. (this isn't a common occurrence but it made me giggle with every breath he took). Kids got up. Coffee was made. Bed was made. A load of laundry was started and the dishwasher was emptied. Seems mundane...but it is my life. My beautiful life. I'm not what you would call a 'high maintenance' woman. I like nice clothes, but today I am enjoying the pants (rolled into capris) that I purchased from Goodwill at 15% off a couple weeks ago. I love fancy cars, but I also enjoy my '91 VW Cabriolet (with no radio) that gets 30+ mpg. I love fine dining, but if I have to choose, I will normally vote Taco Truck.
This brings me to the title of this post DATE NIGHT. (trust me....I have a point)
I'm going on a date on Saturday....which is May 5th....which is Cinco de Mayo.....which will probably take me to the Tacos Jalisco (aka Taco Truck). I'm so excited. I'm excited about the delicious Torta and sitting across the picnic table from my husband that still looks at me like I'm the cheerleader that he is just TRYING to get a date with. Seriously? We've been together over 21 years, married for almost 19 years. I've given birth to your three beautiful children and you still look at me like you have to work for it? Yeah! When we go to a restaurant, he looks at me like I'm the only woman in the room. So, WHY do I want this Date Night so bad? I think it is because so many of us get trapped in the "she knows i love her/he knows i love him" that we forget to actually show it. Don't forget, Shane and I work at home....together. We are together on most days.....24 hours a day. (sometimes I buy groceries or he goes to the sandblaster), but for the majority, it is side by side all day. Most couples would have imploded (I've seen it, it's gruesome). However spending time with the man that loves me as much as I love him is better than the fine dining, nice clothes, or the fancy car. BTW....whoever says the Taco Truck isn't fancy or fine dining has NEVER been there.
Now....what am I gonna wear?
