Smart Start Wednesday....oh how I love thee.

"Hear that? That's all you Bro'. I hope you get lights with the sirens."
This is what I said to the guy last night at 11:30 who had hit a row of trees with his new BMW 7 series.  Oh man....surreal.  Let me start over.

Shane and I got to drive to Anderson yesterday after the kids got home. Yeah, Anderson. It's 100 miles. NOT what I wanted to do at 4:30pm....considering I knew the board meeting would take a couple hours but "hey...a date without my kids...you bet". So we head off in our chariot (A 91 Volkswagen Convertible with hippie stickers all over the back of it). The stereo stopped working so now we have to entertain each other with our witty banter. This gets out of hand (like always).
We make it to Marion to a bar called The Icehouse. Seriously, it had the coldest beer I have EVER had in my entire life. It was like the crew from the Deadliest Catch had just pulled the Keg from the Berring Sea and poured us a Frosty Mug of Killians. Pure Awesome. The burgers were awesome. The fries were fried in old grease that kind of had a hint of fried fish. Gross? Wrong. Delicious.  Two Beers, Two Burgers (big burgers), and Two fries for just a little over $20....Jackpot!! Onward.
Board Meeting Blah Blah Blah. Nominate....All in favor....You get the picture.

Now on the way home, I see this sign. (actually I saw it on the way down and wanted Shane to stop so I could take a picture of it like a weird tourist). It was a punch to my face that is already sore from this past Sunday's message.  (I prefer punches to the face over the stepping on toes analogy...it has more impact).  This sign IS the reason I deactivated my facebook account.  I spent more time trolling around, playing stupid games, getting pissed off, feeling hurt and betrayed, then any normal person should. Of course I'm home all day, so it didn't seem like a big deal until Monday when I realized HOW MUCH TIME I was actually spending on this portal of nothingness.  I think it is a great place for reconnecting, socializing, chit chatting, etc....however Moderation has never been my strong point.  I actually said to my dear friend, Frankie "I can't even imagine how much better my life would be if I spent the time I was on facebook actually reading His Word."  This is almost as weird as Maximus telling his dad earlier in the day that he could see the "ghost of a lizard". (I try not to pry too much on conversations like that).
Now.....we get about 20 miles from home, it's icy. We see a car with it's flashers on the side...then the car in the ditch. Spin the Chariot around....see if we can help.  Well long story short: Swerved to miss a deer. Went into the ditch. Hit a row of trees. Spun the car around. Air bag was deployed. (I don't think he had his seatbelt on) Windshield shattered. Rear view mirror is now in the passenger seat. (Lady with flashers was a little skittish, she wouldn't even go to the car) I however get in the backseat. I've never been in a car this nice before. It's a BMW 7 series. The poor guy was in and out of consciousness, so my Knight in Shining Armor takes off his coat and covers the man up while I keep talking to him. I would say that I have a gift. I have a gift of making things seem not as bad as they are. Which is where "Hear that? That's all you Bro'. I hope you get lights with the sirens." comes in. He laughed, which made me smile. Shane and I prayed for him....which made this seem more like a movie and an incredible sense of CALM.  For that, I'm truly grateful.  I'm also grateful that this was a Tuesday.....because that means.....today is a Wednesday and I get an extra half hour of sleep.
