I have realized the older I get, the more I notice people putting a dollar amount on things. How much they got back on taxes, how much their insurance company paid them, how much they spent on 'this' or 'that'....sigh. I have to tell you, I can't think of ANYTHING that I care about less. I really can't.
I'm not sure on what it is that makes people think that others will like them more with the amount of money that they have and/or just spent on worthless crap. I'm really not sure why someone thinks that I care about how much they money they are conning out of (insurance company, government, employers, customers, friends....etc). I now think you are a bigger jerk than from before. You want to tell me HOW MUCH you give? (that's humble). Now...you want to tell me about your coupon deals .....I'm all for it.
It's money. It's stuff. It's worthless. Why don't you go to the local homeless shelter and tell them. I say that because that is what one wants, right? That's WHY you tell people. You want someone to say or feel that you are better, right? I'm not saying that I'm not happy for people that have extravagant things. (My friend recently told me that she and her husband were getting a condo in Florida....I had to pull it out of her because she didn't want me to feel bad or that she was boasting) I'm THRILLED for her. She and her husband deserve it. They both work hard. They give to the needy. They are humble. THIS is an impressive quality.
Almost as impressive as me saving 55% at the Dollar General for dog food, and fabric softener sheets with my coupons. POW!
